Varying styles of architecture appear in our buildings. Romanesque, Renaissance, Gothic, modern—all group together in an uncoordinated yet pleasing whole…the classic blends with the contemporary; the traditional with the functional. Buildings that have outlived their purposed are replaced with others more useful for the future.

Although there appears no semblance of unity, that ivy-colored walls and sleek structural masterpieces exist side by side reveals Purdue’s master plan: universities have withered when they have clung to outworn disciplines and traditions but have flourished when their teachings are relevant to the times.
